And I smiled the whole goddamn way back to Texas, riding free and easy in my Toyota Chinook. Oh the HMS Lucky Bananafish Life Adventure and I, we sure turned a lot of heads, we sure got a lot of different kinds of looks. Behind their smiles all the hard-luck tramps were scoffing, saying, "Man do you think that you're ever really gonna be free with your car insurance payments and your fossil fuel dependence and hey you think there might be any room in the back for me?" There was this hippie kid out in Phoenix, Arizona. He was mean to his dog, I didn't trust him right away and what the fuck was a barefoot 19 year old rideshare bum doing out in the desert with a husky anyway? We talked for a while on the porch of the anarchist bookstore until the people that worked there started acting kinda weird and mean cos inside the place they were trying to sell some vegan cupcakes or something and outside we were cooking up a free pot of rice and beans. It was anarchy. I never claimed to have anything but questionable judgment, so when that hippie kid said that he wanted to make a trade I gave him all of my weed for a shiny rock and some dmt that I smoked from a can at a rest stop the next day. That's how your spirit was revealed to me. I could see that you were Lucky indeed. Indeed, I was lucky too, to have a friend as good as you. Welcome to the life adventure, Astral American dream
